I made this new header for my blog and I can't get it to work! I thought all I'd have to do is upload a new picture to the header. It's not working! Can anyone help?
It should be very straightforward. Go into your dashboard and select layout. click on edit header, remove the old one and upload the new one. I've found that blogger works better when I upload a photo from a third party photo sharing service like flikr or picturetrail. I'm assuming you've done all this so I don't know what is wrong. Have you checked your file size? Maybe it is too big for blogger to handle comfortably? Don't know if I've helped any.
Is it maybe too deep? I notice that this one is 300 or so pixels deep and the one you have now is around 198.. I didn't write any numbers down.. so I don't know exact sizes. I know all of my headers are around 700 pixels wide and less than 200 deep. Maybe you can try stretching it out a little. I love it!
Dianna, banner.gif has an aspect ratio (w/h) of 3.2; newbanner.gif is 2.1 . If you just replace banner w/ newbanner, it should work but it will be a smaller image. You may want to recreate newbanner in an aspect ratio closer to 3.5.

Self-doubt can be an ally. This is because it serves as an indicator of aspiration. It reflects love, love of something we dream of doing, and desire, desire to do it. If you find yourself asking yourself (and your friends), "Am I really a writer? Am I really an artist?" chances are you are. The counterfeit innovator is wildly self-confident. The real one is scared to death. -- Steven Pressfield, from "The War of Art." I think every artist who succeeds (in their own terms) has some ability to keep moving forward in the face of constant obstacles...emotional, mental, financial, physical...and that is what sets them apart from all the others who have tried and quit. This is also what sets them apart from those who always talk about trying or starting but never get beyond the talking stage.-- Nancy Crow, from "Nancy Crow." The biggest thing separating people from their artistic ambitions is not a lack of talent. It's the lack of a deadline. Give someone an enormous task, a supportive community, and a friendly-yet-firm due date, and miracles will happen.-- Chris Baty, from "No Plot, No Problem."

I have no idea how to change the header, but I really love the new one. But then, I love the old one too.
Good question. I'm just learning this stuff myself!
