I was talking to my friend Joan yesterday, and sharing the utter bliss I was feeling after sewing on my new Janome. How nice it is to sit down at your sewing machine and stitch smoothly and effortlessly, without tension issues, thread breakage, or weird little noises to bother you!
It was such a treat to start the quilting on the turtle. You can't really see it in this picture, but the entire background and border are already quilted. The quilting is very simple since I am not a big fan of over-quilting, although there are probably a couple of things I would have done differently if I'd thought about it more, but isn't there always?

This is just STUNNING. I'm at a loss for words! Yeah, yeah...a first.
just beautiful, a real piece of eye candy there.
Thanks for the nice comments! He has been such fun to work on. I can't wait to get him done this weekend.
Sadly, I couldn't stand not knowing and taught myself to knit.. Now along with my absolutely sinful stash of fabric and embellishments and machines.. add tons o' yarn and fibers. And where and when do I do it.. I love going to guild meetings to soak up quilterly energy.. but I hate sitting idol.. so I take my knitting and crocheting to quilt guild meetings and to the office for lunch. Pure insanity but it is such a stress reducer.. By the way, I taught myself with a CD from Joann's fabrics.. I think it costed a whopping $6.95.
I LOVE your turtle! (and thanks for adding me to your links)
I've been watching your progress on the turtle (which is just gorgeous, by the way). Adding the double row of blues really adds a nice touch and gives him so much more room to swim!
Love the border & progress!
Waou, your turtle is just wonderful!
