Honu Detail

Here are some closeups of the embroidery and quilting I've done so far. I still need to shade in his neck a little so it blends with the arm socket under the shell. I little more quilting and it will be ready to block, bind and finish! This is one of the fastest projects I've ever completed.

This is gorgeous. I love what you've been able to do with the quilting.

Dianna,
Your turtle is so enchanting...I love it. I remember snorkeling off of Mauii and seeing a turtle swimming through the glistening water. You have captured him (or her).
And, I had the opportunity to take a class from Esterita last year and her lessons on using white are still with me. It was one of the best classes I've ever taken.
Thanks for sharing

Pamelala of Canada is right...fantastico! Aren't Teri's classes the best? I was ready to quit taking quilt-teacher classes, then I chanced on a day with Teri.... I'm taking another day class w/ith her this summer!

Cheers, Sarah

Dianna, I'm sorry to be so dilatory in responding, but yes, the irridescent pieces in my "Night Garden" are 3-d. I sewed them into the seams, and they sort of waver down the piece. I love this technique, and I want do to more small pieces like this, and then launch into something larger. thanks for commenting!
